speaking of swapping steering racks... can anyone confirm that the steering column is a different length for the power rack than it is for the manual one??
I was bolting in a manual rack in my former power rack-ed car and the column u joint will not reach the splined shaft on the rack. it misses it by about 1/8" making it about 3/4" or so too short. yanking on the column thinking that it was puched in seemed to do nithing. and yes the rack is mounted to the subframe correctly. ;) -----Original Message----- From: Eric Schumacher [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, September 02, 2002 1:44 PM To: Les Noriel; 16v list Subject: Re: [A2-16v] Another Tool search In the distant past I purchased the same VW puller as shown in Bentely from JC Whitney for $15. Also available from SnapOn man for big bux. Worth every penny. Maks task trivial. Similar can be borrowed from Kragen.
