All,
Not 16v related, but VW related:
Someone wants to trade me an '86 8v GTI from north carolina for my Audi 5ktq.
 It
seems like a fantastic deal. It's been converted to an Audi 3A 2.0l and has a
9A
transmission. Koni adjustables with neuspeed race springs, euro lights, euro
GTI oil
cooler, TT adjustable cam sprocket, autotech power module, stress bars, etc.
It'd be
a killer short commuter/track toy once I took care of some of the little things
wrong
with it (windshield crack, rough idle). Car looks clean as hell, although the
paint is
_WAAAAAY_ rice-y. I'd be tempted to just spraypaint it white and have a total
sleeper.
Anything weird to look out for on a 3A conversion? The 3A bolts right up,
right?
Like I said, the car idles a bit rough when cold...any likely culprits? Will
this car fit into
any autocross classes conveniently? Street touring?
Here's the other thing: It's a fairly recent purchase, and the guy does not
have his
title back from the state (North Carolina) until next week. However, he's
driving up to
chicago THIS weekend, and it'd be an really, really convenient time to swap
cars (I'm
in michigan). Having been screwed over a time or two, I'd like advice on what
the
safest way to do this would be (Other than waiting until he has a title and
driving 14
hours down to Raleigh).
