That is soooooo weird! I looked at an alternator I just bought and the only things I could come up with are: 1. The nut is being tightened down too much and cracking the metal near the center of the fan. 2. The fan blade is somehow getting a little bent and making contact with the mounting ear of the case. I could see it happening once (one of those freak cosmic kind of things) but twice????????? Let us know if you figure it out. Good Luck Greg
