Mine did sort of a similar thing at above 4k. It would buck like a transfer pump going out, except that I had replaced the pump 2 years ago. I noticed I could make it stutter more by using the power windows. Turned out to be a frayed engine computer ground wire. Laters, Brian -- 1989 GLI Wolfsburg Ed.
