I bought my 2nd 16v GLi about 2 years ago and last december I pulled it into the garage and it hasnt left since. Its in great shape and I want to keep it that way for as long as possible. Also, the other reason is that I want to keep the miles on the car right where they are at (under 140k). I want to be one of the few that still have a perfect GLi in the years to come. I also live in a small town so risk of an accident are much lower. I dont want this GLi to befall the fate of my last one. (Sold it to a young man who rice'd it and blew up the engine in a week and then came back to me saying I sold him a bum car.). So, aside from starting it every week or two and keeping some of the weight off the tires, it doesnt do anything right now but just smile at me. But dropping the new 16V into it has been a plan for a while.. as long as VW doesnt make it like their other new engines. If the engine is a single sealed unit then i dont want to have anything to do with it. I dont want to pop the hood and see something that reminds me of my dad's saab.
