On the 91 GTI I installed Bilstein HD's with H&R Sport springs and the VR6
front upper strut tops. After replacing all the very worn original
components it ended up about 1/2"-3/4" lower all around. Left the OEM sway
bar, just replaced the worn rubber mounts w/new OEM parts. The ride is not
really stiff, which is good for the daily driving tasks it does. It seems
like more of a firm and controlled ride. I went too stiff on my last car (83
GTI) and like the current setup much better. Some may want a bit firmer, but
it works fine for my needs.

Hey all,
Been debating this for awhile, upgrading my suspension on my 91 GLI.
Awhile back someone I knew with a 90 GLI swore by his Shine Racing springs
and rear sway bar. Anyone out there driving on this setup?
Also, Bilstein HD or BOGE Turbo Gas opinions?
Just looking for some spirited backroad driving every now and then...
Thanks,
Greg
