After Scott Mason of PAP autoparts posted their intention: There was at
least two pages of immediate responses to his offer. For the benefit of
those who indicated that you're not Vortex members--This is Scott's reply:

The sample seals are going to the manufacturer today. Once I hear back from
them on whether they can produce the extrusion and approve a price, it will
be about 5 weeks until the first run is completed.

Just for an idea on price, a repro 911 Coupe door seal retails for $24.95.
The mk2 seal is a bit more involved and a bit lower volume (maybe!), but
they should come in under $50 each (WELL under if we're lucky). Can't make
any promises but I'll try my hardest!

I'm also looking into hatch and trunk seals. I'll also look into scalp
moldings (on the roof), but the complexity makes that a tough, tough piece
to reproduce.

Thanks for the input!!

Subject: [a2-16v-list] A2 Door and Window Seals

A source for replacement door and windows seals has been discussed on this
list before with little success in locating a source. Some dealers still
carry the items for our cars but aftermarket has fallen short. Parts that
are available have been expensive.

PAP Autoparts, one of the Vortex sponsors, is working with manufacturers
over seas to explore the idea of making replacement seals for our cars.
Prices have yet to be determined but there seems to be a high degree of
interest. Much more so than any other group-but scenarios that I've seen in
the past.

Hopefully something comes of this
