Just because the engine doesn't knock or clunk doesn't mean you don't have bad engine mounts. By the time the engine would knock or clunk around the mounts would be so bad you most likely would've broken the motor mount brackets as well.
The high whining noise is *totally* unrelated to *any* valve float at all. Do you know what valve float is?
