thanks for the other info jack :) on the topic of the pinging, its AT about 4000rpm+ i dont even have to push the car hard to do it, just smooth accelleratoin will do it if i dont shift sooner than 4k. Gas in flordia goes from 87 to 89 to 93. I have always run 93 octane and the noise only started about 4 months ago.
Detonation, meaning my timing has issues.. the plugs, plug wires, dist-cap, and rotor, were replaced duiring the tune up, the dist wasnt. I can go buy a timing light and check the bentley manual for correct timing - see where the car is at. I dont have a problem working on anything outside of the engine. i just dont mess with seals, heads, or cams. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jack Simon" <[email protected]> To: "Adam Frank" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, June 03, 2005 2:27 PM Subject: Re: [a2-16v-list] Exhaust pulling out. > What you are hearing is "pinging" or detonation in the > cylinder itself.
