on the topic of the pinging, its AT about 4000rpm+
i dont even have to push the car hard to do it, just smooth accelleratoin
will do it if i dont shift sooner than 4k.
Gas in flordia goes from 87 to 89 to 93. I have always run 93 octane and the
noise only started about 4 months ago.

Detonation, meaning my timing has issues.. the plugs, plug wires, dist-cap,
and rotor, were replaced duiring the tune up, the dist wasnt. I can go buy a
timing light and check the bentley manual for correct timing - see where the
car is at. I dont have a problem working on anything outside of the engine.
i just dont mess with seals, heads, or cams.
