Since there hasnt been any activity I thought I would see if I could get some advice and maybe awaken the list.
Some of you know, I've been converting my MKII Golf to the equivalent of a 90-92 GTi 16V. My original machine came with the 1.8l low compression with the 5speed ACN transmission. This transmission had nice tall gears for freeway cruising but was not known to be robust and has the smaller 90mm axle flanges. My goal is to build a nice 5sp with a tall 5th gear for freeway cruising. I'd also like to install a Limited Slip Differential. What transmissions would you recommend? Which cars possessed the recommended transmission? Thanks in advance -Les Duarte, California
