To further Matthew’s observation, I’ve noticed that MK2 resale values are 
markedly higher when compared to similar condition MKIIIs or MKIVs. I was 
surprised at how inexpensive MKIIIs are selling for these days. They’re 
practically worthless. I’ve seen two 95 Golf hatchbacks with the six cylinder 
VR6 motor this week which appeared in decent condition for around $750
