Keith,
          Welcome to rpm madness!! Try using apt, it's an rpm manager taken
from debian and it should make solving your prob a bit easier. Install apt
from http://apt.freshrpms.net/,then run apt-get update that should get the
lastest list of files, run apt-get check - should check for any erros and
the run apt-get install kernel kernel-sources and reboot.
