Hi, to all i am absolutley new to linux which i
decided i wanted to give it a try, one annoying
problem i have found is that on windows i use to run
the program setup and olha!! all is done, and with
mandrake 9.1 it seems like i cannot do that, is there
a simple way for idiods to install a software on
mandrake 9.1. I am trying to install something from a
cd. Any Help !!!!

Well if you're trying to install something from the Mandrake CDs, the
easiest way is to use the Mandrake Control Centre. From the Software
Management option, choose Add new software and you get a list of all
software you haven't installed yet. Choose any one and hit install.<br>

In more generic terms, most software for Linux comes in "RPM" files.
These are compressed archives containing the program files together
with a setup script. You can install an RPM file directly from the file
manager by clicking on it.<br>
<br>
If it's a magazine CD or something, you should check the instructions
that come with the magazine.<br>
