Anton... are you sure that you are using hardware acceleration ? lol
Beryl is extremely alpha quality software. You just give it a try, enjoy it for a day or two and revert back. If you want something more stable stick to Compiz. For me they both still require some more polishing. I would give them another 6 months until its fit for stable use. Even newer drivers will change the situation. i use beryl daily u hekk.. I was on the SVN tree up to a couple of days ago but now i switched back to the official releases which are currently at 0.2.0rc3. My desktop actually looks pretty sucky without it, now that i got used to it. It still is alpha software tho and this shows in the extra high use of cpu u hekk..altho since RC3 this has been reduced drastically.. as an aside...anyone know why apart from beryl, xorg consumes a shitload of cpu at anything i do, even for example on a just booted desktop, and i drag my mouse across the screen to make a selection area, xorg easily goes up to 40% - 60% cpu usage and the animation jerks and gives problems. :S On 3/7/07, Keith Vassallo <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Beryl works on my setup... > > Ubuntu on Centrino Duo > > But evrey 3 or 4 updates something gets royally screwed up.
