Agreed Keith, Considering that nobody actively maintains the Ubuntu mirror, we don't have the bandwidth anymore since we moved to Marsa (not that we had much bandwidth beforehand anyway) and the mt.ubuntu is not even pointing to Malta, I feel that the whole effort of mirroring at this stage is at its best futile to the end user. To solve the situation, I think we should tackle each and every issue:
1) Obtain bandwidth for the local mirror - this might involve us changing ISP 2) Find a maintainer for the local Ubuntu mirror 3) Direct the mt.ubuntu to our Ubuntu mirror Now this has been dragging for too long. If we don't get some decent bandwidth, I am very inclined to propose scrapping the whole mirror project. 10.04 LTS is round the corner, and unless we can have an upstream that can handle at least two simultaneous users at an average download speed (8Mbit) people will choose foreign mirrors over ours. Ramon, you used to handle the ISP issues with Maltanet at the time. Can you try and talk to them directly (maybe you would need me too on this) so we get 15Mbit-20Mbit allowed on our connection?
