This is a fine idea, just be aware that this will by default keep you in the testing stream, not the stable stream. Even after testing becomes stable you will still be in testing unless you change your repositories. It sounds complex, but it is actually a great way to do releases IMO.

Also, you can step up to "testing" with little problem, but you can't (easily or sanely) step down from testing to stable.
