Hi, Stefan. I *just* ordered some via aliexpress.com (an offshoot of Alibaba). These little USB-to-TTL modules are very compact, a small card with a USB connector on one end and 5 pins on the other (5V, 3.3V, GND, RX, TX). It is based on the PL2303 USB chip which seems to be well-supported.
I can't wait to try them, but I chose free delivery which could take 3 weeks from China. The punchline? It's a lot of 10 units for $7.50 USD. Yes, $0.75 each. Too good to be true? http://www.aliexpress.com/item/10pcs-USB-to-TTL-USB-TTL-STC-microcontroller-programmer-PL2303-in-nine-upgrades-plate-with-a/1006278705.html I don't want to promote a product I haven't tried myself, so I'll write back when I try them out.
