I have recently started giving cards in new batches "random" passing
grades just to spread them out a bit into the system. I guess the
alternative would just be to only try to answer a few each day and
leave the rest sitting in the not memorized pile. But that somehow
feels untidy. Am I seriously damaging my deck by doing it this way?
I see now from a recent post that the initial grade effects the
easiness factor but I wonder if it is significant. I'm not extremely
concerned about ultimate efficiency. I figure it will all work out in
the end.

The reason I do this is to avoid having a big lump of similar subject
cards all passing through at exactly the same time (I know there is a
slight randomness factor and eventually they space out more and more)

So again, my question is, am I seriously damaging my deck by giving
cards an initial random passing grade?

Thank you!
