I used to use Mnemosyne, but then randomly came across a friend using Anki. Unfortunately I was lured away by the ability to sync and a backup web-based interface. The most annoying thing with mnemosyne was travelling and always ensuring I had the latest version of my deck with me. With anki it doesn't matter if I'm using my Mac/Windows/Linux PC... or if I'm on the run and just want to use the web based interface with my phone... it all syncs up! Don't get me wrong... I've used mnemosyne relentless for about 1.5 years now, but Anki gives me the power I've been wanting while remaining simple for everyday review.
