The reason I use Mnemosyne is that there is a research project behind it, and for me that was the differentiating factor between it and all the other flashcard SRS systems. The learning data of users whom have opted in to have their data anonymously collected is used to tweak the algorithm. I don't think other projects have such a feedback loop. And you're doing your bit for science :)
