After a year or so of very intensive card studying, a sudden decrease
in my free time etc meant that I haven't touched mnemosyne for almost
6 months now!

I've now got a bit more time again and have just started on the huge
backlog of cards, but have a question:

Does mnemosyne taken into account the huge amount of time that has
passed since I was last supposed to do my repetitions?

For example, I have a card that I have studied once or twice and it
has a gap of one week. I then drop mnemosyne for 6 months. However
when I start studying again, I find that I can still remember the card
reasonably well so I mark it a 3. In this situation does mnemosyne
take into account the huge gap and set the next repetition in another
6 months or so? Or does it just use the "official/supposed" gap of one
week and set another repetition in about a weeks time? I would have
thought that the first option made more sense, but am not sure that
that is how it is operating...

Thanks for any clarifications.

M.
