So changing the 'Target' field was giving me invalid directory error. So I 
changed the 'Start in' field to C:\Mnemosyne (I had copied the whole 
Mnemosyne folder to that location earlier)
Then I ran the shortcut as Administrator, it gave the same error. But for 
the heck of it, I ran it again and voila, it worked ! I have no idea what 
sorcery is going on but thanks a lot for your help Peter :)
