But they can't. As said, anyone can made a CD now you can get recordable CD
players. But not everyone can get to record on top-knotch microphones in a
nice soundproofed studio with a decent engineer - whether than means Liam
Watson at Toe Rag studios or whoever produces Britney Spears.

If you like MUSIC sure . . . but it seems since the birth of broadcasting
people have always been more interested in stars than the best musicians.

Best explanation I think comes from a line in The Sopranos (not the TV
series, the Alan Warner novel) - 'you only stay in if you've got a nice
house'. A lot more parents are a lot more comfortably off - kids didn't used
to have their own TVs, videos, games systems, etc, in their bedrooms (and
kids share bedrooms less these days). At the other end you've got the rise
of club culture - there's more places for people to go out and let off
steam, rather than get bored and frustrated (and create somethging).
And at the bottom end, if you're badly off, you're a lot more badly off, and
spend all your time nicking car stereos so that you can buy new baseball
caps and tracky bottoms . . .

Yeah, but you're still going to be stuck in the office with people playing
it. And wasn't dance music with all it's white labels, low production costs,
and 'anonymous DJs' and mix tapes meant to be 'the end of the record
industry' too? Now look at it. Punk too. Answer is to avoid the radio and
TV pop shows.
