i would never dare to suggest that my interpretation
of the term "modernism" is really one of relevance,
aside from putting into light the conceptual "Janus"
influence of the mod culture. looking back, looking
forward. present day is never grasped. perhaps some of
you being a bit older forget what its like to be
surrounded by people playing crap (here at san
francisco state) ~ loud terrible and unavoidable, and
simply how refreshing it is to look back at the
original british invasion scene, and revert to those
influences. i feel a bit silly going on how i did
earlier about modernism etc, cos i really am not
concerned about terminology, i just know what i like.
i love soul, jazz (reinhardt, chet baker, mingus...),
blues, and 60's, and am quite happy to hear of new
groups supporting such influences to varying degrees
of freshness and creativity. in fact, im a vocal
jazz/piano major and try to incorporate such themes
into my own interpretations.

*just so youse all know im far from an elitist, or one
who insists upon the hit singles of the who at clubs**
