Did you get a look at 1998's issue of One eyed Jack (from SST publishing)?
They had the most recent documentation of this rapid scene, Casuals.
or hooligans obsessed with dressing the part of a loyal fan. The magazine's
no longer. I hear it's a newspaper called "pulped"-it's was 1999 last time I
payed attention.
An article in the first copy of "streetstyle" by Ted Polhemus was written in
1980 & carried a photograph of a row of boys gleemingly displaying the crests
on their sweaters with great pride (like it's their names).
I originally prompted the question regarding casuals 'cos I am seeing alot of
people crossing borders of definitions. To me there is a complete difference
between a hard mod & a mod.
According to the article, casuals currently (well,1998) exist and are
football fanatics crazy about sportsgear.
sounds like American skinheads to me, but they were calling themselves
"casuals".
The article was entitled "one life of a casual" or something like that.
Check out George Marshall or SST publishing to be exact.
Cheers,
K.Lott
