Hi,

There is no downside specific to ModusMail/Gate when using hyper threading.
So use it if you want to. You have to be aware that the performance gains
will be quite modest since Modus is very IO intensive and multi-threading
does not alter this.

By the way, our services are all multi-threaded and will take advantage of
multi-processors as much as they can.

Regards,

Maybe Vircom could clarify for the list what setting is best to be used with
their products?

MT> I don't think Hyper Threading will affect Modus Mail in any way, however
MT> you should be aware that Modus Mail is not written to take advantage of

MT> Hyper Threading in essence presents a single CPU as multiple CPU's to
MT> the operating system and hence should not affect Modus Mail or any other

MT> If you do install Modus Mail with Hyper Threading turned on I would be

MT> the system expects to find something in memory that is no longer there
MT> (there is a lot more to page faults than this, but I wanted to keep
MT> things simple).
