Hi Regis,

I have our reports set for every 5 days and the quarantine to delete
after 10 days on Spam and 3 days on Viruses. Holding the virus messages
for 3 days may be a waste, but I'm doing it to be on the safe side.

This seems to give ample time for a normal person to release any
False-Positives.

Sincerely,

Hi Mike,

Out of curiosity, at what frequency do you send reports to your end
users?
We had two situations :
- we tried to send it daily, but people with multiple email aliases
complained that it was worse than receiving spam itself
- we tried to send it every 5 days, but then some people found false
positives and complained that even though they could release them, it
was
too late and harm was done.

Cheers,
Regis

Although we've not had complaints of false-positives in the 2 days since
upgrading to MM3 from 2.1.258, I agree that there are issues with
handling them through whitelists. Whitelists do have a very viable use
in alleviating all FP of any messages from specific senders, so I
appreciate the inclusion of those in the new version.

If we experience FP after having MM3 running for several days at the
extreme level, we will have to deal with that on a user level. We've
always run the server at the extreme level and since enabling the
Reports a few weeks back, have had very few FP. We've had a couple of
users who didn't know (until we started sending reports) that we were
scanning for spam and viruses and wanted us to stop this on their
accounts because they had a way to do it "better" than we can. The
majority of responses we've received are a big "Thank You!" for keeping
the spam out of my inbox and the viruses away from my computer.

I think the idea John has on creating a FP clickable link (or something
similar) on the Quarantine Report would work great, as long as we give
details in the heading portion of the report of what to use the FP link
for (and make the explanation understandable to a typical customer).
YMMV on "typical customer", but mine are the type requiring a lot of
hand-holding. :-)

My hat is off to Vircom and the beta testers! ModusMail 3 is an
outstanding product thus far. Thank Y'all!

I know this isn't the place to request a feature, this is just my $0.02.

Sincerely,
