I would verify the configuration of the DNS server on the SBS computer (using root hints preferably). I would also verify that DHCP is handing out the internal IP address of the SBS computer for DNS.

Are they using ISA? That can open up an entire other can of worms...

Subject: [Modus] {OT} Small business Server Delays

Hi Guys,

We have a few clients running Windows Small Business Server 2003. All off them are running fine except one particular client. The one client is experience message delays for all outbound emails.

I have tested this by sending several mails to myself, and our mail server shows the inbound connection fine. However, on occasion they SBS just queues up the mail and doesn’t send it out. The client is connected via a 512Kbps ADSL circuit and has 128Kbps upload speed which is hardly being used.

They have a separate issue whereby they cannot login to Hotmail. The website is found and you can put in your passport details however on a correct login the mailbox doesn’t open (the page just timesout), on an incorrect login you are correctly diverted to the relevant passport page.

DNS does appear to be running fine, and I am truly stuck on this one.

Regards,
