OK, good.
Have you tried turning up monitoring and logging on their
server to show what it says? From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Suneel Jhangiani Sent: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 1:17 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Modus] {OT} Small business Server Delays You can email me the
screen shot privately if you want. The settings are set as
per the details below. With the exception that 4 DNS servers have been manually
listed (this was done to try and alleviate the problems
experienced). They are currently set
to use their Internal SBS DNS, however as far as the other machines on the Net
go they use different DNS and the zone is hosted separately. This should not be
an issue as remote workers would connect to their server via the VPN connection
and there is a DNS entry for this. Also, the DNS entries both forward and
reverse are correctly set-up as our ModusMail OPR log
shows: ---- SMTPRS log entry

250-mail-gw1.inctech.com The weird issues is
that we see emails from them however, sometimes there are long delays. What
puzzles me is that if you send an email to an address then that will sit in the
queue, a subsequent email to the same address will get delivered in a matter of
seconds and the original first message will continue to sit in the
queue. -----
ACK and you shall receive.

[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Well, I tried including
a 25 KB screen shot, but that didn't work. How small are emails limited in this
forum? From: Michael B. Smith Does the queued email
show in the Ex2k3 queues on the server? I'm presuming
so. Is this company hosting
their own external DNS? Or do they have a proper split
DNS? This is the default
configuration for outgoing retries in Ex2k3: First retry interval:

Days (Default SMTP Virtual
Server Properties, Delivery tab) has their's been
changed? Clicking the
"Advanced" button, has "Perform Reverse DNS lookup" been
checked? ISA settings are found
in the "ISA Management" MMC snap-in (including rules, filters, and
LATs). From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf
Of I’ll double check on
the root hints, but the point is that an Email sent to me got queued yesterday
and still hasn’t been delivered although other emails have
been. DHCP is running and is
handing out addresses correctly for the internal space. The external (Internet)
interface has a single static IP which is bridged over from the ADSL modem and
all other connections are working fine. I believe the ISA is
running as the server creates a basic rule set, however I have been unable to
find the rules in the Routing MMC. -----
Here at First National, you're not just a
number - you're two numbers, a dash, three more numbers, another dash, and
another number. [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] I would verify the
configuration of the DNS server on the SBS computer (using root hints
preferably). I would also verify that DHCP is handing out the internal IP
address of the SBS computer for DNS. Are they using ISA?
That can open up an entire other can of worms... |
