Jim,

Thank you for the response. We started out with the old WebMailPro as well.
That is why we are using POP3. I'm on the latest Modus build now. I was
hoping that the transfer wouldn't require so much manual processing for each
mailbox, but I guess there is no choice! :) We probably only have about 2000
webmail boxes on that server though.

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

We recently did this back in mid December. Old Webmail was the running the old
WebMail Pro version 2.1. The old Webmail was POP
based, where the new modusMail Webmail is now IMAP based. Address books convert over
without any problem at all. The INI file for
each user converts over as well, which stores their Real Name, Reply-to, etc. The
part that was not so pretty was converting the
messages. Del Hines (http://www.needscreek.com/MoreTools/) wrote a conversion program
to convert the old message files to .MSG
files. For us (because we were running a pretty old version of the Webmail Pro), this
only worked for some of the message files.
We ended up writing our own Perl script to parse the old message file to .MSG files
for each of the customers folders. We then had
to login as each user (so that all the proper folders for IMAP were created - the
'sent items' folder doesn't exist until the user
logs in the first time), create any folders that needed to be created while logge
d in as that user, and then copy the MSG files to those folders.

We spent the better part of 24 hours doing that last part. It wasn't fun, but our
customers definitely appreciated it.

Good luck,

Jim
