However, under UK law, they can no longer claim copyright here, whatever roguish tricks they may get up to in America. It just dawned on me why "copyright" can be a verb in America. Clearly the underlying philosophy is not protection of the rights of the individual, but making money for anyone who cares to uplift an artistic creation and claim it as his own, while adding no value whatsoever. How very sad.

All they did was double up the first note and now it's the most litigated protected musical property there is. What it does mean is when it is someone's birthday the band just plays "Good Day to You" and the copyright holders can do nothing. Without the doubled note, it's not their tune, but a much older one that is in the public domain. A truly disgusting amount of money though has been made. rgds Martyn On Jun 9 2012, Mike Bailey wrote: change one word and tell him to sod off and get a life ! best Mike SWS ________________________________ From: Charles Hill [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sat 09/06/2012 00:13 To: mogtalk2 Subject: Re: [mogtalk2] Fw: If my body was a car-non-mog Warning. This is copyrighted. The author is very quick to demand royalties and threaten to sue. I know of several local British car clubs that have published this in their newsletter or on their website and were contacted by the author's attorney. This is not hearsay. My own local MG Car Club got one of the letters.
