Gerry - I'm interested to read of your experience as I too, in France around the Le Mans Classic weekend, experienced an influx of dead insects that covered my co-driver and me like a load of crumbs. In our case it happened only when the hood was on and it was raining. Our impression was that the insects were dying on impact with the windscreen, then being washed by the rain (there was a lot) through the screen/ hood gap. This was borne out by the large quantity of dead bugs we later found lodged under the front edge of the hood, as though in the queue to be washed on to our shirts...
Any other explanations of the dead bug phenomenon?
