Having a similar issue with my Samsung infuse (Model # SGH I997), my macbook air has trouble seeing the device.
I have Monodevelop with Monotouch and Mono for Android installed When debugging/deploying Monodevelop only sees the device after the initial plug in of the usb cable; when trying to redeploy to the phone the device doesn't show up in the device list; if I attempt to refresh the device list it will sometimes show the device but for the most part winds up crashing Monodevelop. When the refresh works and I do see and select the device from the list; it never winds up deploying to the phone..just hangs in Monodevelop.
