I have a very good friend who works for an Apple show room. It would be very unusual for a store to not have an item on the floor that's brand new. They always close down the store the night before and do a big preparation for the reveal the next morning. When in doubt you can always call ahead of time. The Apple Store app for the iPhone has a feature to quickly find and phone the nearest store. Of course it's just as easy to Google. But the Apple Store iPhone app has the added bonus that you can scan a product, checkout, and leave the store all from your phone, item in hand, and w/o any human interaction (although is that good or bad?). If you get stopped you have the receipt right in the app. In any case it's pretty fun. Oh, and be sure to connect to the store's wireless, otherwise you won't get the checkout option.
