I had a similar situation with Heritage. Won three items and the shipping cost quoted was way too high, I thought. I complained about it and asked for an explanation. It turns out that Heritage neglected to combine the shipping cost of the various items. While everything was sorted out at the end, I find it surprising that a company of Heritage's size, prestige, and experience, still has problems calculating shipping costs.

My guess is this piece if anti-Heritage propaganda has some basis in truth, like lots of effective propaganda does--it's just been stripped of facts and
details that would expose it for what it is.

Here's my hypothesis: the $400+ figure comes from an ebay invoice for
multiple items that included multiple individual shipping charges--once for each item. I had a similar huge # just this week on multiple items. But you
don't have to pay that amount! The $400+ total, I'll just bet, was before
adjustments were made for combined shipping, since (almost) no seller would
charge you eight times for shipping eight items in one package. How could
they be such low price items? It must bot have been one of their
signature/catalogue auctions. Didn't Heritage used to ren weekly auctions
on ebay before they set up their own weekly auctions on their site? $9
minimum is what they charge for lots on their site--not on current ebay
auctions.

Just one educated, or semi-educated, guess...

But Rich--you get to read Bruce's email club messages before the rest of us?
Wow! That must be exciting!

wait folks how about this

Heritage's auctions on ebay.

Bruce will be running an email from a customer who saw a bunch of
items that were still under $10 on ebay

he bought a certain number of them - about 15 items.. that totalled $85

well in addition to the bids, Heritage states that the minimum buyers
premium was $9 per item, which was more than any of the item's hammer
prices were. Then in addition there were shipping fees & because the
guy was in Texas, he also had to pay sales taxes.. the result?

his total bill for $85 in auction items was OVER $400.

how's that folks!
