I do agree that there is the potential for fraud now and down the line with reproductions. These particular posters are not exact reproductions as they are on photographic paper. However, there are very high quality reproductions out on the market such as the ones from S2 Productions that does the line of posters licensed by the American Film Institute. The S2 Art Group posters will never be confused with the original posters by anyone remotely familiar with movie posters. They are "recreations", not "reproductions". They are made by the same painstaking stone lithography process that was used one hundred years ago. In fact, they are produced on stone lithography presses that have survived from that era. One reason that the S2 Art Group posters will never be mistaken as original by anyone with a bit of knowledge is that they are BETTER than the originals. They are created on a heavy duty archival paper, with better inks than were originally used. They also take a bit of liberty, and recreate photo off-set printed posters (like TOOTSIE) using the stone lithography process. They also carry an embossed identification stamp on the bottom edge.
