I love it when the big guys slug it out in public! Most auction houses such as
Soethby's and Christie's charge commissions of a similar nature to the buyer
and seller. The advantage Heritage, Christie's and Soethby's have is in their
marketing. Christie's and Soethyby's still charge an outrageous photo fee for
their catalogue, which in most cases is negotiable; Heritage does not charge
this sort of gauging fee. FRANC

Sotheby's and Christie's actually have EXTREMELY REASONABLE consignment fees,
especially to "the trade". Just this last October, I consigned an Andy Warhol
print to Christie's in New York and it wasn't even a great Warhol piece.
Yes, everything is negotiable, but still. Do you know what they charged me??
A straight 6%. No photography fee, no insurance fee and no buyback fee.
Not bad, eh!!
