it's funny when i first started going to poster auctions i thought the La
doce vita italian four foglio smoking style was the best poster ever and i
thought i would never own it ..then some years ago i came into some
unexpected money and i own that poster (it's not for sale)...so if the
stars align correctly ie the poster is not truly rare or nonexistant and
you have the financial where with all don't discount the possibility that
you might someday own the poster of your dreams...Alan

Metropolis quad, McKnight Kauffer artwork is in MOMA collection.
The Lodger quad, especially if another Kauffer design, (he did the titles).
Think those probably qualify for "know no one ever will".

Cheers,

Great question! Curious to see if any of the posts could actually
      get a match!

      I have four...

      1) So This Is Africa US one sheet - Only film Wheeler and Woolsey
made outside of RKO. I have the Swedish one sheet don't think the US
      one exists.

      2) Rhythm On The Range US One Sheet. Bing Crosby Paramount Musical.
It's not an expensive poster and I've seen a couple around but not
      for a while.

      3) Cimarron (1931) - Swedish One sheet. It's around but pretty damn
expensive. Great Graphic of Dix with smoking gun. I think it's better
      than the US one sheet.

      4) Invisible Man Universal US Advance. I think it's the coolest one
sheet of all the Universal horror. Ron Borst made fun of me for
liking it so much but hey everyone's eye sees things differently.

Subject: [MOPO] QUESTION: What's The #1 Poster You Wish You Could
Own But Know You Never Will

Thought I'd steer this back to the realm of poster reality. I had
my fill of priests as an altar boy, generally I don't trust lawyers
and I've been married so many years that I'd rather discuss posters
(they've always been a nice escape in the past).
The knee-jerk reaction to this question is obviously Metropolis
or Frankenstein---something from the top of the list of posters that
realized the highest price in auction. Of course I'm talking about
the cost of the desired poster being prohibitively high--but also
       its scarcity on the market.
I think my "dream" poster would be an original Public Enemy US
one sheet. I know I'll never have one. Hey, I don't even know if
one exists.... (I've actually heard a rumor over the years about a
certain long time collector who has one in his collection...but
that's just a rumor). I realize that a Public Enemy one sheet would
be worth over 50 grand, but I'm not really talking about the money
here. I'm talking about the passion for the piece. I'm sure every
collector has that one poster that they've always wanted, but know
unless they win the lottery AND they're lucky enough to stumble upon
it...alas, it will never be theirs.
Does anyone else out there have a poster like my Public Enemy one
       sheet?
