I love facebook. Through this site, our entire extended family keeps in touch
daily. We even used it to send out the daily medical status when Granny broke
her arm...and those messages went coast to coast. We like the fact that
facebook has privacy settings for photo albums, and we set them to "friends
only."

As for unwanted friend requests, just click on "ignore" and poof, they are
gone.

Even better:

1. I have received so many postings from my former students who, being in touch
with eachother, were able to find me. Now they write and tell me how much they
loved my class, what they remember from those third grade days, and more. I
have already met with one of them for lunch. Some of their parents are also on
facebook and they have asked to be my fb friend as well. I would have never
known how many students - now adults, some married - think so fondly of me....I
treasure those "you were my favorite teacher ever" messages!!! I would have
never known without Facebook, since these kids have spread out all over the
world.

2. I have reconnected with high school friends with whom I have not spoken for
over 43 years!! Our neighborhood literally emptied out the year after
graduation, and we were scattered to the four winds with no way to find each
other. We meet for lunch, breakfast, and communicate daily on fb. It is like
study hall all over again, but with no detentions for passing notes!!!!

3. Speaking of the neighborhood, I have reconnected with the girl I lived next
door to for 14 years growing up. She lives, ironically, 20 minutes away!!!
Thank you Facebook!!! We now meet regularly and even take knitting classes
together.

4.Let's not forget college. Pals from both undergrad and grad schools are
there and we also communicate regularly and share photos. My roommate lives in
Connecticut and, pardon the pun, we have connected! It is awesome!!

5. Current friends and I post very very often (sometimes daily) so we all know
what we are up to all the time!! Sure beats writing those dreaded "aren't I
wonderful?!" once-a-year Christmas letters that are so
annoying......................on fb we just share daily events and life and it
is what it is. We also use the message inbox function to make plans, etc.

My kids love Facebook because I am the family photographer and I can post tons
and tons of photos...which previously would clog up their inboxes when I would
mail them. Now they can view them when ready and so forth.

Does it take a lot of time? Yes. But far less than it would to try and reach
all of the people in my life who have meant so much to me over the years in the
different phases and locations of my life. I check it each morning and before
bed..and sometimes in between or on my cel.
Love it, love it, love it.
