I watched this on Sunday afternoon for my girlfriends daughters birthday party.
I know this has been slated in reviews but I can't understand why. I thought it was great, would watch it again tomorrow, some funny moments in it also. Good harmless fun all around! Not amazing but certainly well worth watching. 8 1/2 out of 10 from me. It wasn't as good as some people had told me, but it wasn't nearly as bad as some other people had suggested (another way of saying it was that it was no Edward Scissorhands, but it was also no Planet of the Apes). I am a huge fan of Johnny Depp, and yet I thought he was the least interesting part of the movie (although I was not as disappointed by him in this as I was by his performance in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). The weird thing they did with his eyes was distracting, and since you express a lot of emotion with your eyes, it hurt that way too. I thought the lead actress was quite good. If they wanted to make "The Gwynneth Paltrow Story", she would make an excellent choice to play the lead.
