I discovered this a few years ago when I had some 50's B Film Noir title to
list on eBay and found out that it was an original Astor Production. Years
ago you'd hear a lot more about Astor reissues. Not much anymore, though.
Still, as soon as you think you have it all figured out, the hobby throws
you a curve ball...

Did you know that Astor were first release on some movies? Few collectors
know this. They see "Astor" and immediately think "reissue", and that is
not right.

It looks like this dealer's description is a bit more accurate than I
thought at first. But still, as far as I know ASTOR material didn't actually
appear until the early 40's, not 1937. Maybe Bruce can shed some light on
when ASTOR material first appeared.
