I'm really thrilled that Jack Cassidy is not forgotten.  He was one of the most
mesmerising screen presences before his tragic untimely death.  I'm
uber-jealous that you got to see him in live theatre (back during the Kennedy
Presidency!).

Yes, Neil, you picked the best!!  The combo of Falk and Jack Cassidy, one of
the most underrated performers in sho-biz history, was dynamite!
Luckily for me, I saw Peter Falk starring with Lee Grant and Vincent Gardenia
in Neil Simon's hysterical "The Prisoner of 2nd Avenue."  And I saw Jack
Cassidy in "She Loves Me."

very sad.

he did an excellent comic turn in the underrated Robin & The Seven Hoods and
had a long, rich association with Cassavetes.

but if you're going to mark his passing, I suggest one of the early Columbos
that had Jack Cassidy as the guest star.  The Spielberg-directed Murder By The
Book (1971) or (even better) Now You See Him (1976) where Cassidy & Falk eat
scenery like it's made out of milk duds.

Most know of him as Columbo, but he was at his finest in The In-Laws (opposite
the equally great Alan Arkin). He was one of those guys like Walter Matthau who
was always better than what he appeared in, but it took a super long time for
him to become a star.

I wonder if any of his films had Mexican lobby cards? I guess I will soon know!
