Playing Devil's Advocate:

Since before pictures could only be shown when available, and that wouldn't 
always be possible, it wouldn't be a level playing field for consignors without 
it being done across the board.

I didn't find the pics on APF particularly bad, (in the main), but I think I'm 
cautious about the reality versus the perception of backed/restored posters 
generally.

How much better is the condition of the majority of restored posters from that 
era?

I have no idea.
