Yes, we could add a sniping feature to our website and not pay them every month.
But we have opted to go with more transparency.
This way you know your bid is with a third party company and there is no way
that we can find it out.

Sniping is also about saving our customers time. Not everyone has the time (or
desire) to sit in front of a computer all night and fight back and forth in $2
or $5 increments.
Sniping allows you to set a bid and have it executed at the end of the auction
without having to tie your night to the computer.
We do have the capability to have time-extended auctions (we had this
programmed as an option when building the site), but will choose to save it for
a more signature-event type auction instead of weekly auctions.
At this juncture we choose not to ask our customers to tie themselves for hours
(or even minutes) to their computers to watch the end of our auctions by
necessity, but of coruse they can do so if that is how they would like to
choose to spend their time.

If a consignor would like to get the absolute most for their posters, they
should strongly consider using our fixed price listings.
Earlier this year we sold a War of the Worlds half sheet for $33,000.00 using
our fixed price feature - a price that would be difficult to replicate at
auction no matter how long the time was extended, and just this week we sold a
Mighty Joe Young poster for $2,600.00 another very strong price for our
consignor.
And with only a 10% commission, you will end up with more money of the selling
price in your pocket than any other poster seller.

It seems like you could add that feature to your web site and not have to pay
them every month. However, it seems like a bit of a conflict of interest.
Basically, the argument for sniping is that the buyer will get a better price
on the item. As the auction house, your responsibility lies with the
seller. When you are paying a 3rd party to supply a service which is designed to
get your consignors LESS money -- well, that seems just plain wrong. But, that's
just my opinion.Evan----- Original Message -----From:

SnipingFunny. I wonder how long a business can last without actually charging
for their services. From a technical stand point, it seems like the best
solution would be to have the individual auction houses support snipe bidding.
So, when you bid on eBay or emovieposter, you could just register your bid as
"snipe", and it would execute the bid with 0 seconds left.Of course, you would
have to trust the auction house to execute your bid fairly. But it seems like
people already trust the snipe sites with their user/passwords.Evan-----

Re: [MOPO] SnipingThe reason I asked the question is that I recently started
using Gavelsnipe after paying another site for a number of years. Gavelsnipe
has worked very well for me and I now wonder how long the other sites will be
able last if they continue charging a fee for sniping.JOHN REID VINTAGE MOVIE

does the customer support do on the pay sites if your bid doesn't go through?
Do they go ahead and buy the item for you anyways? Or do they do the same thing
the free sites do and say sorry about that, we'll try to make sure it doesn't
happen again? Gavelsnipe places bids from two different servers to help ensure
99.99% placement success. I have used them dozens and dozens of times on both
ebay and Heritage without fail. Rich Halegua who runs a competing auction site
gives similar testimony as do many others. I can not speak of Gixen as i have
never tried them, but why would why when I have a completely free sniper that
has never failed? -----Original Message----- From: William Scott

Sniping Use BidTamer, have paid but at the moment using the free version. By
paying fee snipe buffer can be reduced to 3 seconds, free version is minimum of
10 seconds. Also, with free version there's a limited number of snipes, think
it's 3 a week. On 21 Oct 2012, at 03:39, JOHN REID Vintage Movie Memorabilia

they give you anything extra that the free sniping sites dont? Regards John
