Bid enough you still win the item.
If the snipe isn't high enough there's no time for sniper to react and bid 
again.

If you resent not having time to respond to a snipe bid, and want to bid more 
really you should have bid that amount in the first place.

Other than convenience, like being able to decide my absolute maximum bid , 
leave it and avoid getting carried away.
