"which is why i'm very surprised to see Rich considering movie posters buyers to be investors ... filip"
Hi Filip Of course there are collectors who dont care whether the poster they are buying is going to appreciate in value or not. However, I think that many other people who buy movie posters hope that they are making a good investment as well as getting something for their collection. Many collectors by at auction purely because they think they are getting a bargain and that is often the case. I have been asked about all of this by collectors and I think there are certainly some posters which are as good an investment as anything. Its just a matter of doing proper research. Perhaps a good illustration of this is with a dealer who set up his business in the last seven or eight years. He started with no movie posters at all and purchased a lot of his stock through ebay and various other auctions - and he still does that. He made wise investments buying quality movie posters and has done very well in a short time. The fact is that dealers are often the biggest buyers and they replenish their stock on a regular basis ie they invest in movie posters. Of course it is true that some posters are not good investments but that is the case with many other commodities - real estate, stock market, etc etc. The biggest problem with investing in movie posters is that you never know what might turn up in the future. The value of a poster that is rare now could be greatly diminished when someone finds more copies of the same poster.
