well Rich, that explains why so many people eat crappy cheap junkfood , they can't stand watching that investment lose a perception of it's value ( that expensive organic health food turning into a brown turd ) so the emotional drain makes them not want to spend that much money again . I had not thought about it that way , but your view on investments has really enlighted me . thanks, filip Date: Sat, 2 Nov 2013 12:06:09 -0700 To: [email protected]; [email protected] From: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MOPO] Auction prices
I don't consider movie poster buyers or comic collectors etc to be investors Filip, but spending money is an investment in something. when you buy food, it's an investment in your body. If you buys shoes, it's an investment for your feet. Buying collectibles is an investment in your spirit and to many people, watching that investment lose a perception of it's value (say from $100 in February to $24 in December) is an emotional drain that colors their interest in making another $100 investment At 10:39 PM 11/1/2013, filip de volder wrote: Hi, that's definitely true for pre 1950s movies , and it's quite logical , collectors come in generations , and generations do disapear , some genres are above that like sci-fi and horror but in general people collect because it's something that counts for them , often what they grew up with ... which is why i'm very surprised to see Rich considering movie posters buyers to be investors ... filip Date: Sat, 2 Nov 2013 08:39:25 +1000 From: [email protected] Subject: [MOPO] Auction prices To: [email protected] Bruce and others I would be keen to hear more thoughts about what Rich had to say concerning older original vintage posters from the 1930’s – 1940’s posters – USA Hollywood mainstream titles losing market share because the buying public is ceasing to exist literally due to age.
