As an auction consultant here in the UK - I would perhaps pre-empt Bruce and Grey by saying any item that comes in for auction whatever the condition at a certain level that item will sell - paper backed or not.
Bruce and Grey will point out the paper backing and allow the purchaser to discern if they want that item and at what cost. That is the nature of auctions. This Never Happened to the Other Fella....
