Well Mel....you get the Economy frame that comes with regular foamcore backing. My Archival and Deluxe frame comes with Neilsen Bainbridge Artcare Conservation foamcore. That product is not only 100% acid free, but when they manufacture it, they put ingredients in it that actually neutralizes whatever is in the frame and the environment around the frame. Not all linenbackers use acid free fabric. They often use a masa paper that is directly behind the poster and then the fabric and that masa paper is acid free, but it's like a tissue and we dont' really know how long that will last with fabric behind it that is not acid free. I have posters that I linenbacked say 30 years ago with the top linenbackers of the day and some of them have become brittle over time as the fabric has degraded.
So, it is always my recommendation on any poster of higher value that the Artcare be the product that is used behind it. Regular acid free foamcore is good, but it doesn't go that extra step of acid neutralization.
