I hesitated to chime in about this because of its inescapable political
content, but yes, Greg. DeJoy was appointed by you know who the first time
around. Postmaster Generals are appointed by the President, but cannot be
removed by him. It is my belief that DeJoy's real ambition has been to degrade
the post office to such an extent that the population will welcome
privatization. This is accomplished by bleeding USPS of funds, while raising
postage rates over and over. This has been a fever dream of the Republicans for
years, since they believe that private is better, no matter what. They've been
on the rag about making the post office behave like a for profit business.
USPS is not a business. It is a service of and a department of the Federal
Government. One of the tools that the congress used to enhance this
privatization idea is to require the Post Office to fund their own pensions.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't know of any other federal agency that is
required to do this. Just the Post Office. That's a huge expense that the
Post Office should not be required to pay. Underfunded and understaffed,
that's it. And I agree with Greg that if you ask the postal clerks about
DeJoy, you would get a negative response. Because they know.

We send everything we ship by Priority Mail. Our shipping for items whether
they are $15 items or $1500 items is $15.00. Cheaper is not always better, and
I'm sure that some people would balk at our shipping. But in the long run,
Priority Mail is better for us and better for our customers. Sometimes, if the
order is generous we pay for all this shipping. But it still goes by Priority
Mail. And everything is insured.

We do use FedEx for some shipments and we will use UPS if the customer insists
on it. UPS have their own issues, for sure.

Happy Hunting, Mopolistas!
